
Federico Veiroj's fifth film is set to debut in Toronto International Film Festival's Platform rivalry and furthermore will screen at the San Sebastian and New York film fests.
The Uruguayan Film Institute on Tuesday reported that Federico Veiroj's The Moneychanger will be the nation's accommodation in the global component film class of the 2020 Academy Awards.
A 1970s-set dramedy-spine chiller featuring Uruguay's top on-screen character executive Daniel Hendler (The Candidate, To Fool a Thief) and Argentina's Dolores Fonzi (The Summit), The Moneychanger pursues hero Humberto Brause (Hendler), a man who irately dedicates himself completely to the purchasing and selling of cash bolstered by his dad in-law, a veteran in the matter of capital flight. Devoured by his outsized aspiration and enthusiastic drive, Humberto expect the bearing of the privately-run company and acknowledges a suspicious task: laundering the biggest entirety of cash he has ever observed.
Created by Rizoma and Oriental Features and dependent on the novel of a similar name by Juan Gruber, The Moneychanger is set to debut Sunday in Toronto International Film Festival's Platform rivalry, and furthermore will screen at the San Sebastian and New York film fests. Deals are being dealt with by Film Factory Entertainment.
The Moneychanger is Federico Veiroj's fifth film — following Acne, A Useful Life, The Apostate and Belmonte — and first Oscar offer.
Uruguay still can't seem to acquire an Oscar selection.
